It’s been the summer of strife in Israel, after a spring of uprisings throughout the Middle East. Beginning with a Facebook-driven protest against the rising cost of cottage cheese, that successful round possibly inspired the Rothschild Boulevard-tent-city-in-Tel Aviv demonstrations against Israel’s inflated housing prices and the parents’ stroller march protesting child-rearing costs. The movement has spread countrywide, with an estimated 5% of the population gathering weekly to make their voices heard. And, last but not least, don’t forget the dairy farmers; they’re out there as well to preserve their take of the supermarket shelves.
